*We recommend that you participate in two consecutive days, at a minimum. You are welcome to attend all workshop dates.

The UW-Madison Office of Campus Information Security (OCIS) is sponsoring a workshop-style of events focused on the topic of keeping campus information secure. The workshops are intended for both department administrators (e.g., those responsible for making decisions regarding technologies, including functional managers and application developers) and information technologists (e.g., system, database and network administrators; IT architects) from UW system campuses. The goal is to help both groups to gain a common understanding of information security and its potential impact on day-to-day operations, from policy to architecture. We strongly encourage small department teams representing these groups to attend the workshops together.

The workshops will focus on the major areas of risk for protected data (e.g., SSNs, financial accounts, protected health data), overall security architecture and its relationship to trends (e.g., service orientation, design guidelines), and process orienteering (i.e., the adoption of recognized standards).

OCIS has been gathering input from campus groups to develop the workshop content, and based on those conversations, we have put together the following schedule. The schedule provides a preliminary outline of themes and activities; these will continue to evolve and take shape as we near the workshop dates. The workshop location, dates, and times are firm.
